Founder’s Welcome
Greetings and welcome to New College Franklin! I invite you to experience what makes New College Franklin unique in higher education. In these pages you’ll discover what it means for a college to have an integrated Christian framework, to embrace the seven Liberal Arts (Trivium and Quadrivium), to teach classic texts, to personally mentor and disciple students, to seek to instill wonder for who God is and what He has done, and to facilitate growth in spiritual maturity for the purpose of serving.
I know words and images are limited—college websites are filled with descriptions and photos designed to represent the college experience. Sometimes it is difficult to know what is sincere or foundational. Because of this, I would eagerly invite you to visit in order to see the college community, church community, and intentional education for yourself.
We think that you will discover that we embody these ideals with an open heart – a heart that deals with the flaws of sin, but strives towards something greater, brighter, and more beautiful as the Lord shines in us “the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Cor. 4:6). Come explore our site, come visit the college, come see what the Lord might be pleased to do in you.
About
Under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, New College Franklin disciples students through the Liberal Arts for wisdom, virtue, and service. We believe that all knowledge is grounded and unified in the Lord God because He is the Creator and Source of all being. Our unique educational experience emphasizes this unity so that we may know God’s truth, cherish His goodness, and enjoy His beauty, drawing us toward man’s highest aim: the worship of God.
New College Franklin is a four-year Christian Liberal Arts college dedicated to excellent academics and a community of discipleship. Together, faculty and students pursue godly wisdom so that we may be equipped for lives of humble service to God and His Kingdom. Educating the whole person is at the heart of New College Franklin’s educational philosophy. Through our liberal arts curriculum, we seek to shape intentional, faithful, and ordinary Christians—followers of Christ who die to self, who take up their cross daily, and who see compassionately with the eyes of Christ. The liberal arts challenge our students’ intellect and broaden their understanding of God and his world, equipping them for what God has called them to be and do.
